Early
Piano Restoration
When a
piano is brought to our shop the first step is to clean the piano in its
entirety using the approach of a restorer. Our goal is not to dismantle the piano, but to study it in order to understand
the logic of the restoration process. Throughout the restoration of
the piano, we use glues, leathers, and felts, similar to those materials
used by the early builder. While we meticulously replace those parts
which have deteriorated, we take care to save all the replaced parts and
store them with the piano for
future reference. |
